Neurocybernetics

Exploring the intersection of neuroscience and control theory

What is Neurocybernetics?

The original spirit of cybernetics as envisoned by Norbert Wiener was an interdisciplinary field that combines ideas from signal processing, information theory, control systems, and neuroscience to understand self-regulating behavior of animals and machines. The ideas of cybernetics have spread widely and wildly to many areas in imaginative ways. We define neurocybernetics to indicate the involvement of neural systems and understanding of behavior as the fundamental goal, perhaps focusing cybernetics back to its original narrow meaning.
